My 2024… March

I have reviewed my photos taken over the course of 2024 to pick out my favourites.

I have taken it month by month, picking my favourite 5 images from each month. Some months were harder than others to narrow it down; some months were hard to choose 5, as there were only 5 ones I really liked! Once I worked my way through each month, I was then be able to choose the top 5 for the entire year, titled ‘My 2024’

Next is March. The images are ordered from least favourite to most favourite. The top 3 images (bronze, silver, gold) go into the ‘My 2024’ final.

'Rainbow Jump’

March, 2024.

FIFTH PLACE. The sun was coming through the trees nicely along this route through the woods. I waited for the dog to get so far ahead, then set up my shot and recalled him. He came racing back, with acrobatic jump as hoped for.

'Flamin’ Viper’

March, 2024.

FOURTH PLACE. I was at one of the unsilenced testing days at Donington Park. This Dodge Viper kept racing around and breathing flames from its exhausts when braking hard. I found a spot where I was doing it consistently, and spent the next few laps hoping I could capture the spitting flames. I eventually got them and one I am quite pleased with too, with decent panning motion blur.

'Flying a Red Kite’

March, 2024.

BRONZE. I was birdwatching at Cossington Meadows in Leicestershire when a pair of red kite’s came flying low overhead. They circled around for a minute or so before floating away. They are such beautiful birds. Don’t see many (if any) of them in Devon, so they retain that special vibe.

'How To and How Not To Attack a Corner’

March, 2024.

SILVER. I like the contrast between the two formula cars going for different approaches to the ‘Fogarty Esses’ at Donington Park. It almost has a little Buster Keaton about it. Our protagonist (Keaton) concentrating on himself, whilst chaos ensues in the background.

'Acrobatic Dog’

March, 2024.

GOLD. My favourite photograph of the month is the dog landing with such poise and concentration. I love how his front is composed and has made the landing, whilst rear still trails behind, tail flying in the air. I love these motion shots and the bright colour and bokeh beyond the fallen log.
